A Child Trust Fund (CTF) or Junior ISA (JISA) is a long-term savings account. If you're eligible, money has been saved in your name to help give you a financial start when you become an adult.

If you were born in the UK between 1st September 2002 and 2nd January 2011, you are likely to have a Child Trust Fund. If you've ever been in care for 12months or more and don't have a Child Trust Fund, you may have a Junior ISA instead. We can help you find out.

The money belongs to you, but you usually can't access it until you turn 18. From age 16, you can start taking more control of your account and learn more about how it works.

Every account is different. The amount depends on the type of account, Government contributions, investment performance and any extra payments made over the years. Your account provider or local authority can tell you your balance.
